Subject: No more IRS

Comment: My husband and I have been campaigning for a consumption tax (Fairtax) for several years now. We truly feel it is what our Country needs. We own a small business. The current tax code is counterproductive to growing our business. At present we are not interested in making money, just surviving. The one year we made good money from our business, tax time came and the IRS said we owed most of it to them. It's called the self-employment tax. This is money we could have returned to our business to make it grow. Instead, we were living on credit cards and had to let employees go. We would like to see the Fairtax happen for personal reasons also. It's a "real time" tax. The IRS claims to know our financial situation at any given moment better than we do, such as making quarterly tax deposits when we're not sure how our business will do in the next quarter. With the Fairtax we would have no year-end surprises, no stressful record keeping, no second guessing every decision we make when we fill out our tax forms worrying that our opinion and that of the IRS could differ substantially. Best of all there would be no forms to fill out. There is no place for an abusive, intrusive and coercive organization such as the IRS in a country that prides itself on being a bastion of freedom and human rights. We got rid of a dangerous regime in Iraq. It's high time we do the same here. Spring would then become a season for joy rather than one of fear and dread.
