Subject: Retail sales tax - not regressive

Comment: I read in a news article today that your panel had rejected a national retail sales tax as too regressive. If you had read any material at all regarding a national retail sales tax, you would see that it is not at all regressive. With the monthly rebate, or "prebate" as it has been dubbed, anyone in the current lowest tax brackets pays virtually no taxes, as is the case currently. Please speak with Congressman Linder, the bipartisan sponsors of HR 25, and the numerous economists who support this plan. Also, if a retail sales tax were so regressive, I doubt as many states would have continued to use it instead of a state income tax.
