Subject: Tax reform Comment: I've been a supporter of the Fair Tax proposal for the past several months. It solves a number of problems with the current US tax code. It would clearly allow everyone to know what they are paying in tax, without having to wonder about whether they've calculated it correctly. It reduces taxes on the working poor. It allows any American in financial difficulty to give themselves a tax break by reducing the number of purchases that they make. It captures taxes from illegal or black market sources of income. It increases the ability of American goods to compete overseas, and it will strengthen the sagging dollar. I hope that the panel will choose to be bold, and that they will recommend this fantastic method of taxation, and move to the NRST favored by most economists. |
