Subject: You call that tax reform?

Comment: On January 7, 2005, President Bush announced the establishment of a bipartisan panel to advise on options to reform the tax code to make it simpler, fairer, and more pro-growth to benefit all Americans.

This statement is on your website’s homepage. I suggest you zero in on the words “Simpler” and “Fairer”. Tonight I tuned into CSPAN to catch your dog and pony show regarding what you had come up with in the way of “tax reform”. All I can say is, it’s not much. After about a forty minute discussion regarding taxing insurance premiums, all of you seemed somewhat confused and unclear on what direction to take. If you’re confused, how is the American public supposed to figure it out? So anyway, how does all of this make the tax code “Simpler” and “Fairer”? Sounds to me like you’re just trying to raise our taxes and complicate the system even more.

I’m willing to bet that after all is said and done that the tax code will go from 16,000 pages to more than 18,000 pages all thanks to your handy work. Again, please go back to your home page and read it. “Simpler” and “Fairer”. One more time, “Simpler” and “Fairer”.

Stop feeding us your educated jargon and make the tax system “Simpler” and “Fairer”.

Connie, you stated on a CNN segment a few months ago that the tax code was “written in a way I can’t frankly understand.” Well, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it your job to write it in a way that you and any American can understand?

You need to give the FairTax a fair hearing. This is what the American public demands. You’ve performed a disservice to the American people and you should all be held accountable for wasting our tax dollars for this charade of a panel.

Either go back to drawing board or bring in another panel.
