Subject: Mack's Mistake

Comment: Regarding Senator Mack’s recent reported comments regarding FairTax :

Other political entities do not compare to the U.S. when it comes to respect for the individual liberties of its citizens. Our Constitution’s integrity has been corrupted by the 16th amendment. Unlike the other amendments to the Constitution, the 16th restricts our individual freedoms and extends the government’s intrusion into our personal lives.

Income, gift, and estate taxes are simply liens on an individual’s financial freedoms. Liens do not promote positive financial growth. A national sales tax empowers taxpayers by giving them the control of when and how to meet a tax obligation through spending. Meanwhile, the taxpayer has full ownership of all income to save and invest to his further benefit.

Nothing will make taxes simpler as long as there is a 16th amendment that gives the government the right to place liens on a citizen’s financial resources
