Subject: Fair Tax

Comment: I can see, from the many comments on this website, that there is a great amount of interest in the "Fair Tax" to replace the current income tax system, and rightly so!

The current taxation of income does nothing but provide a DISINCENTIVE to personal savings and the entrepreneurial spirit which (in part) has made this country great. I can personally attest to the fact that I have NOT started a businesses simply because the current federal tax system discourages me from doing so.

In short, the complexity of current tax law:

1. Makes it difficult to establish a business with all rules and regulations regarding compliance, and

2. Filing a tax return is a risky effort, considering the consequences of making a mistake - an AUDIT. You run the gauntlet every year with your own personal income tax return. Now, imagine adding the complexity of business on top of that.

Aside from the reasons stated above, the "Fair Tax" system goes further, by insuring that even those visting this country (legally or ILLEGALLY) would contribute to the financial well being of our nation. Face it, people have to eat, clothe themselves, obtain shelter, etc.

Every time a purchase is made, each individual is paying their fair share at the point of purchase or transaction - no more filing, no more complicated (and costly) compliance, and no more fear. The Fair Tax system would truly be a "Pay As You Go" system for EVERYONE.
