Comment: Dear Sirs: Thank you for your service to your country. Thinking outside of the establishment to help correct the broken tax code is not an easy task, with many different parties trying to promote and push their ideas and agendas. Taking a step back and asking, "How did we get into this tax code mess?" should be done and your panel is doing just that task. Our tax code is broken because of it's inherent flaw; it taxes production and not consumption. So, no matter what you do to the income tax code, it will always be broken because it discourages investment, savings and corporate production. By amending the tax code, allowing deductions and all the other Congressional tricks can not save the income tax because of its original sin -- taxing production. Under the proposed FairTax, you all know it eliminates the corporate and US worker tax burden. Given all the economic studies I read on this proposal, it is the only tax proposal that is not only fair to low and middle income workers, it also helps to grow the economy and move once US manufacturing jobs back to the US. And the list goes on. You all have a unique opportunity. History will keep its eye on your decision and make it's judgment as appropriate. Did they make the best decision for the American public? Or, did they make the best decision to get politicians elected? Please do not punt on this issue; please do not cave to special interests; please do not bastardize the FairTax by having both income and sales taxes; and lastly, please remember that the FairTax is the only one that is fair to ALL Americans.
