Subject: Confusion

Comment: I believe that there must be a level of confusion within the panel. I do not understand how reducing the mortgage interest and employer provided health insurance deductions are tax reform. I understand the argument that the committe will make that these are tax-reform, but what I'm referring to is substantial tax-reform.

If President Bush truly believes in smaller government. Then a true revision of the tax-code shold be considered. The Fair-Tax book has been on the NY Times Best Seller list for an extended period of time which should be a signal to the members of this committee that the populace has tired of the confusion around the tax code. I'm not saying that I am for or against a particular tax plan, only pointing out the facts around a particular book to show that true tax reform is something that needs to happen and that this committee seems to only be making recommendations that don't have a snowballs chance of actually making it into law.
