Comment: One thing that I find unfair about the current taxation system is that if I, as an individual, go to a professional tax preparer, and he botches my return, I, (the person who has no knowledge or experience with tax forms), am held responsible for the mistakes of the preparer. I realize that loopholes for corporations and the wealthiest Americans are built in to our current system. With the FairTax, every American would have a level playing field, paying taxes only on what they consume, and we could stop the rapid slide of the middle income class into the low income class. It just makes no sense to continue to burden lower income people with supporting the nations needs, while corporate profits and personal wealth at the top income levels soar. If personal savings accounts or personal investing is to be the goal for all American's retirement funding, then adopting the FaiTax is the surest way to allow individuals the funds to invest or save.
