Dear Chairperson Mack and the Advisory Panel.

Your recent press release regarding excessive tax deductions and credits is revealing. Thank you for your honest assessment of the current state of the tax system.

I am confident that you are aware that the current administration is spending far beyond its appropriate budget, and continuing to extend quite significant tax breaks, incentives and shelters to large corporations and the executives of these institutions.

The smaller tax breaks that are being extended to the working middle and lower class are insignificant in light of the corporate tax breaks and excessive government spending.

In the report you indicated that, "We have lost sight of the fact that the fundamental purpose of our tax system is to raise revenues to fund government."

Truth be told, the fundamental purpose of our tax system is to raise revenues to fund a government that is of the people, by the people and for the people of these United States of America. To me it seems as if our government has lost sight of this particular fact most obviously and dramatically.

As I am confident that you are aware, our government is spending money fluently and excessively in many places, domestically and internationally.

It is time to focus on reducing government expenditures internationally. It is time to have corporations and their executives pay their fair share and diminish the many shelters that have allowed them to avoid paying that share of their obligation.

I do trust that you have the best interests of the American people at heart. Please remember for whom our government was created. It was not created to give our elected representatives a way to do what they want to do. It was created so our elected representatives would serve the best interests of the vast constituency and continue to strengthen our national economy and build confidence in its people.

In my opinion, our government is failing in that charge.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment.

Sincerely,

David D. Bluhm
