Subject: Fair Tax

Comment: I strongly support the Fair Tax. It would mean everyone would have to pay their fair share, including the foreign tourists, underground economy, etc.

The businesses already collect taxes so this should not be a burden on them.

Like all federal spending programs, Social Security operates exactly as it does today, except that its funds come from a broad, progressive sales tax, rather than a narrow, regressive payroll tax.

Consumption is a more stable revenue source than income. Even if an individual loses their job and have little money coming in, they still consume.

The FairTax pays for all current government operations, including Social Security and Medicare. Government revenues are more stable and predictable than with the federal income tax because consumption is a more constant revenue base than is income.

Replacing the income tax with the FairTax, a highly progressive federal consumption tax, will end this practice and make American products 20% to 30% more competitive, both at home and abroad.

Getting rid of the income tax will dramatically lower production costs in this country.

Thank you,
