Subject: The FairTax

Comment: Replacing the federal tax system, including the income tax, with the FairTax, HR 25/S25, is the most sensible solution to making federal taxes simpler, fairer, and progressive. The FairTax is a consumption tax on goods and services at the point of final sale. Everyone would receive a "prebate" at the beginning of the month to cover the tax on necessities. The billions of hours and money spent on tax preparation would be used to boost the economy. Consumers would have more money in paychecks, and be free to decide how to spend, save, donate, and invest it. The FairTax would raise the same amount of tax money the government now receives.
This simple, visible, fair, easily collected federal tax on consumption, the FairTax, should be enacted without delay.
Yes, there will be major adjustments. The best one will be- making April 15 just another spring day.
