Subject: mortgage interest deduction on second homes Comment: I would like to suggest that instead of reducing the amount of indebtedness that a taxpayer can deduct the related interest on his/her principal residence, that the panel look into eliminating the deduction altogether for second residences. I believe encouraging home ownership has many benefits, however I do not see why the government is in essence subsidizing the purchase of second homes. |
