Comment: I am all for tax reform if it helps the little guy. We are retired, living on a fixed income, had worked for our great? government, and what I object to is having my Social Security Taxed. If we were among the high living Americans, I would understand this. But we are getting by, and it irks me that this is happening. Our government thinks that two can live as cheaply as one. Get REAL! and smell the roses!!! A single person can exclude $25,000. when figuring if Social Security is taxable, and a married couple can exclude $32,000. Where is the fairness? This country has many problems and if they addressed Family Life, and backed it, some of the problems would be taken care of. When we were working we had to put our kids thru college, with no break from the govt. Now they give an education deduction which benefits families with children. They keep raising the amounts that can be put into IRA accounts, and when we worked we were only able to put in 15% of our earnings. I guess we were born too soon!!! Our representatives in Congress couldn't care less about their constituents. They have all the perks, and will continue when they retire. But the small guy has none. Think about this good and hard, put yourselves in our shoes, and see if you would like it. I guess the only solution is get rid of the elderly, and with our tax system, you are leaning in that direction. Some are eating dog food, since that is all they can afford. This is America, and our illustrious president is sending $8l billion to Iraq to develop it. Why!!Why!! Does not charity begin at home!!! Those people will never be rehabilitated. Where is the oil money going to? Our great? oil companies? Get the middle income people to talk to you. There are more of us than any others. All Bush thinks about are his millionaire friends, and how he can save them money. They know how to shelter and hide monies, and don't tell me they don't, because just remember the majority of Americans are not Stupid. We are getting sick and tired of being forgotten, shouldering the burden, and seeing our boys killed for WHAT???:??:" You know how I feel about this, and hope some good comes of this so called TAX REFORM.
