Comment: Dear Advisory Panel on Federal Tax Reform:

After careful consideration of the consumption tax bill, the Fair Tax Act of 2005, HR 25 / S25, I would ask you to please consider it as a viable replacement of our current tax code. In addition to its passing, I believe the 16th Amendment needs to be repealed, as well.

I believe it should be passed as written with no additional changes, unless the only change would be to disallow future change.

FairTax is simple, fair to all, and frees up energy, time, and income for economic growth. This is in total opposition to what we now experience with the IRS and income tax. Everyone knows it is the most complex man made thing on earth and the constant tweaking has created a monster that is far from being fair. The current system uses far too much time, energy, and money in compliance. It is a total waste of resources.

You may think that such a drastic change would be difficult but we could follow the example of New Zealand after its reform government was elected in 1984. Sweeping changes were made almost overnight and with great success.

Most states are already equipped to handle a transition because most states already collect sales tax.

Please rescue us from the horror of our current system and consider the Fair Tax Act.

Sincerely,

Carol L. Smith
