Subject: Taxing Health Benefits to Reduce AMT Burden

Comment: I can't see how this proposal makes sense. Taxing health benefits would cause people greater hardship to pay for health care. Employers are paying smaller shares each year, on average, so employees are already being hit with higher premiums. Now, to tax the part that the employer does provide just doesn't make sense. I know all about the cost of healthcare as an Employee Benefits Manager for a law firm and I also know all about AMT as my wife and I are hit with it every year. However, this is not the way to reduce AMT. I'm not sure who has advised President Bush on proposals like this, but most of the proposals regarding employee health benefits have been "bandaid" repairs to our country's issues. This solution is the worst one yet. It taxes all income levels for the benefit of those who can afford more. I would also like to say that I voted for President Bush in the last two elections, but right now, I'm not really sure why!
