Subject: Tax Reform - FairTax

Comment: I am very disappointed that your reform suggestions did not include the FairTax. A progressive consumption tax that does away with the current income tax and all the time and money wasted preparing forms and tracking deductions seems like a REAL alternative to the curent mess we must endure. Even if our middle class tax burden increases we would support the FairTax simply for the tradeoff of not having to file taxes or paying someone to do it for us. Also I think for the good of our country we should encourage working and saving which the FairTax does wonderfully. Your "fix" of just doing away with some deductions and only part of the paperwork does nothing to relieve the chaotic and everchanging tax system whose rules constantly shift leaving citizens to guess how to comply. Paying a tax every time you make a purchase makes the tax clear, concise, and easy to pay and collect. Why on earth would your panel ignore such a potentially beneficial reform? At the very least I'd like to see logical debate over the reforms, not just a lazy brush off of scary new ideas.
