Subject: SIMPLIFY THE TAX CODE

Comment: Gentlemen and Ladies,

The paperwork reduction act with respect to the annual ritual of filing the income tax return did not reduce paperwork for this nearly 80 year old retiree. Filing the annual tax return has become so complicated that it takes hours to complete a tax return using professional tax filing software such as Intuit's Turbo Tax. One example is the new deduction for sales taxes. Who keeps receipts to add up sales taxes let alone who would want to take the time to do it?

Until the politicians in the Congress are willing to give up pandering for votes, the current tax structure will remain in place. Indeed, a poor state of afairs.
