Subject: Tax Reform

Comment: Time to act. No more need for committees, discussions, objections, and especially no more lobbying against tax reform to protect self intrests. The answer? Existing regulations apply for 2005 and expire 4/15/05. No brainer- replace with FLAT TAX. Fairest to all. All pay same rate on income, whether rich or poor, single or married.

No deductions. Who cares if you lose the mortgage interest deduction if you end up with a lower tax bill.

No exemptions. Siimply allow first $40,000. to be tax free to give people enough to live on.

My niece is single, earns in the low 20's and has to pay tax. You try living on $18,000 per year. People with low incomes should not pay tax.

A national sales tax would instantly become as bad as present income tax system. Huge expense for vendors to collect and administer. All kinds of tables showing whats taxable nad tax exempt. Unfair to low income earners so Department created to determine and issue refunds to low income families. See the point.

Value added tax? who's to say how value added is to be determined.

Only reasonable choice is Flat Tax.
Income $50,000.
Living allowance 40,000

Taxable Balance 10,000.

Tax due @ 25% 2,500.
Tax withheld 2,700.

(Due) or Refund 200.

I just did my tax in 5 minutes. Get the point?
