Comment: Dear Sir or Madam,

Abolish the federal income tax. Replace it with the Fair
Tax (H.R. 25).

No amount of bracket adjustments, targeted exemptions,
"Paperwork Reduction Acts", taxpayer advocates, H&R Block
offices or other fantasies will salvage this abomination.

The income tax annually outrages tens of millions of
Americans. It imposes pointless, long-term, recordkeeping
obligations. It penalizes hard work and contradicts the
work ethic. It distorts the very nature of a free-market
economy. It forces us to abandon our Fourth and Fifth
Amendment rights by requiring our signature on a 1040.

What's worse is that income tax collection has become an
integral part of crippling our prosperity and freedoms. It
silently facilitates out-of-control government spending.
The exponential increase in monitoring citizens has little
to do with tracking terrorists to seize their funds.
Instead, it has everything to do with monitoring honest
Americans to seize their incomes.

In place of the income tax should be the Fair Tax (H.R. 25).
If enacted, the annual aggravation is gone. Hard work and
the work ethic aren't penalized. Everybody makes more
economic decisions and fewer accounting decisions. And we
won't see the IRS or its unconstitutional mandates.

I urge you to recommend replacing the income tax with the
Fair Tax.

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely yours,
Mark D. Crowley
