Subject: Federal Tax Reform

Comment: First of all, let's be honest about it; our federal income tax is unfair, excessively complicated, difficult and expensive to file and for the well heeled, easy to get around because of loop holes. While a flat tax might be good, a national sales tax would be better. Under a national sales tax, all would pay taxes according to their ability to pay. The Europeans use it to pay for almost everything. Most states in our country use a sales tax. Almost nobody likes a sales tax, but they pay it willingly in order to buy the things they want. You don't want to pay taxes? Don't buy anything. The only exceptions to paying such a tax should be on groceries and shelter. To live, one must have food, shelter and clothing. Clothing should be taxed because people will dress according to their means.
