Subject: Include Support for the Fair Tax

Comment: As part of your commission to examine and recommend improvements to the overall taxation process I urge you to pay special attention to provisions of HB 25 and SB 25 otherwise known as “The FairTax Act.” The House version of the legislation is a bipartisan bill sponsored by John Linder (R-GA) and Collin Peterson (D-MN) would remove the burden of the income tax and other federal income-based taxes.

The current tax system is incomprehensible. It is beyond reform. It simply has to go.

The Fair Tax Act would replace the current tax system with national consumption tax that will:

* Remove tax policy as a political tool to reward or punish various constituencies.
* Allow Americans to keep 100% of their paychecks, pensions, and Social Security payments.
* Dramatically reduce the cost of goods and services by 20% to 30%.
* Allow families to save more for homeownership, education, and retirement.
* Raise the same amount of money for the federal government.
* Make American products more competitive overseas.

This is a historic juncture and we may only have one chance to make a change to Federal tax policies that will strengthen the country.

I urge you to heed the vast majority of American taxpayers and provide support and endorse for this legislation in your final report.
