Comment: While true tax reform will take years to achieve, there is a simple reform
issue that would be a great benefit to us seniors.

When completing the IRS form 1040, those collecting Social Security benefits
encounter the Social Security Benefits Worksheet (Page 25 of the booklet).

This full page form has eighteen lines and requires information from form
1040, lines 7, 8a, 9a, 10 through 14, 15b, 16b, 17, 19 through 21, 8b lines
23 through 25 and 28 through 34a plus line 35!

When one realizes that many seniors aren't as mentally sharp as they were
earlier, it comes naturally that this worksheet sends many of us directly to
a paid tax preparer. H&R Block must love this gem!

Certainally, this could be simplified while we wait for real tax reform.
