Subject: Taxing Employer Provided Benefits

Comment: I understand that the Congress Joint Committee on Taxation is considering a tax on employer benefits to replace the alternative minimum tax. At a time when employees are being asked to take on more and more burden of the cost of health plans, it would appear that congress is heartless in thinking of loading up more taxes on employees who are struggling to provide health care for themselves and families. I think congress's focus should be on finding ways to get control of the spiraling cost of health care so that it will be more afforable. Pushing more people to the uninsured rolls is sure to have a negative affect the health state of Americans in general. If the alternative minimum tax is the issue, then it should be modified to reflect what changes has occurred that are impacting taxpayers outside of the target group.
