Subject: Panel recommendations Comment: To all members of the President's Tax Reform Panel: You blew it. Your recommendation to invoke additional taxes and to explore a possible VAT tax is ridiculous. Look at Europe and other places that have the VAT tax. It does not work. Corporations do not pay taxes they collect taxes from the consumer for the federal government. Please take another look at the consumption tax plan offered in John Lindner's Fair Tax Plan. It does not discriminate against the poor or the rich and it collects the same amount of revenue as the withholding tax now does. It is better for our country in competing with the rest of the world and it eliminates tax shelters. I realize that it is revolutionary and a huge change that will cause problems initially. But in the long run it will be better for all americans. It will create higher paying jobs and will cause additional investment in our corporations which will help the economy. Isn't the purpose of a reform panel to recommend reform when it is right. Please do your jobs. I cannot believe that anyone who works for Charles Schaub would go along with the lame recommendations this panel has come up with. |
