Subject: Fair Tax/Flat Tax

Comment: It appears that Advisory Panel is not considering either the Flat Tax or Fair Tax proposals seriously. this is a serious ommission as our tax code is horrifically complex, something over 60,000 pages. The IRS cannot accurately answer inquiries, nor can several tax preparers arrive at the same answers from the same data. Our present system needs to be scraped and a new one installed. That is why a serious look at the Flat Tax or Fair Tax proposals need seriuos consideration. I favor the Fair Tax as it wouls eliminate the IRS, eliminate tax forms, and it would give every American their entire wages or salary among its benefits. I know that politicians, and lobbyists oppose it; politicians because they would lose control over people through taxation, and lobbyists because they would lose their jobs. But the most important constituency, the American public, seems to be lost in shuffle. It is disappointing that the only proposal put forward is to reduce the amount of mortgage interest which can be deducted. This amounts to a tax increase and this is unacceptable.
