Subject: I honestly think we need the FairTax

Comment: I am a middle to middle-class working mom living in northern Chicago. I have never understood the idea of taxing our income, particularly when it costs so much to do. All that does is make it possible for rich people and criminals to get away with paying little to no taxes.

If our taxes were on consumption rather than income, we would have a choice. I could decide to be frugal and spend less, and it would benefit me by reducing my tax burden. And my savings would help not only me, but the whole economy, because they'd be available as capital in the system. With the income tax, the only way I can lower my tax burden is to work less. How does that help anyone?

Please recommend the FairTax. This government is supposed to be for all of us, and the FairTax looks to me like the best way to move in that direction.

Sincerely,
Lisa Liel
