Subject: Tax suggestions

Comment: The tax code needs drastic reform. It will take courage to make such reform. I would recommend three changes:

Quit taxing unemployment benefits. It is a national disgrace that people trying to survive temporarily on unemployment insurance have to pay taxes on it. The U.S. government cannot be that hard up for money.
Quit taxing social security income and retirement income. Is our government so corrupt that it needs money from these sources?
Adopt a tax system like France’s value added tax. If citizens had pay-as-they-go taxes during the year, and the individual income tax were eliminated, it would channel unbelievable resources into savings and the economy.

Thank you for considering these suggestions.
