Subject: Unfair tax rules Comment: Begin to simplify the tax code by eliminating all deductions. Especially the child tax credit, and deductions for child care. Even do away with the sacred cows of charitable giving and mortgage interest. SIMPLIFY! In the name of fairness, the dollar amount that can be contributed to a retirement account should be the same for all. Whether that amount goes into a 401K, an IRA or a ROTH, the maximum amount should be the same for everyone. So at least raise the maximum contribution for IRA's and ROTH's to $14,000...the same as 401K's. I also wonder why health care premiums paid for by an employer aren't subject to income and Social Security tax paid for by the recipient...the employee. It's part of the pay package, and should be subject to taxes just like other earned income. |
