Subject: FAIR TAX

Comment: I fully support the Fair Tax as proposed in HR 25 and S25. The US needs to be more competitive in the world markeplace. The income tax discourages competitiveness and is virtually incomprehensible.

The Fair Tax is simple, far more so than a Value Added Tax and not as subject to political manipulation. It's pay-as-you-go (i.e no surprises every April 15). It encourages savings and investment, which nearly every economist agrees is desperately needed in the U.S. It contains a provision for an outright monthly payment that favors lower income households. It will pull in a lot more revenue from the underground economy (est at some $1 trillion) that currently goes untaxed.

Is it perfect - no, but no plan is and it's the best plan I've seen.
