Subject: Tax Replacement

Comment: To really make a permanent and lasting change to our Federal Taxation system the 16th Amendment MUST be abolished (along with the IRS as we know it), and we must stop taxing both individual and business income, as well as eliminate ALL estate, capital gains, and other Federal taxes such as Social Security. Many economists agree, and even Alan Greenspan advocates, switching to a consumption based (such as a National Retail Sales Tax) method of Taxation. This will stimulate our economy and make our products more competitive in the global marketplace, since they will not be leaving our borders with 25-35% imbedded taxes (Social Security Taxes, Income Taxes, other taxes, and the high cost of complying with our ridiculously complicated tax code).

I’ve read many of the comments posted on your website, and many advocate the “Fair Tax” (HR 25/S25). I don’t care what you call it, although it must be fair, simple, cost little to administer, tax the underground pornography, drug, organized crime, etc. economies, and also not be a burden to those at or below the poverty level. The only thing I have ever seen that meets all of these criteria is the Fair Tax Plan. The Fair Tax would also fully fund Social Security. The President is making a mistake by not proposing to reform Social Security in conjunction with overall tax reform. If you don’t adopt the Fair Tax plan it should be something very close to it in my opinion. Thanks for your time!

Sincerely,
