Subject: H.R.25 (FairTax Act)

Comment: Our current system of taxation in the United States is fundamentally flawed. The income tax code has become so overly burdensome and complicated that fundamental change is necessary. It is unconscionable that we as a free people allow ourselves to be taxed in such a punitive, coercive, expensive, and invasive manner.

I urge you to support H.R. 25 (the FairTax Act) because it eliminates the regressive payroll taxes, provides for a rebate on taxes for necessities that are given automatically to everyone, thus completely untaxing the poor, and it removes the imbedded taxes in everything, making the poor's money go further.

A FairTax will reward and encourage principles like savings and investment. The FairTax will have a dramatic impact on our economy by stimulating capital investment and economic growth while eliminating the burden that income tax compliance places on our economy. The FairTax is raises the same amount of tax for the Government as would the present system that it replaces. It is time to scrap the income tax, inheritance tax, payroll tax, savings tax, etc. and replace it with the FairTax.

In summary, the FairTax is a National Retail Sales Tax (new goods only) and it will untax the poor, is found to be revenue neutral, there will be no income tax, no medicare tax, no social security tax, no death tax, and no taxes on savings. Social Security and Medicare will be paid from the national retail sales tax, because the tax base is 3 times larger under the FairTax.
