Subject: Please consider the FairTax plan

Comment: I have been reading about the FairTax plan for over a year now. While it may be intimidating to those who don't know much to make such a big change, it is the best of all possible ways to fund the Federal Government. It is very progressive - it taxes those most able to pay. What is so progressive about HR 25 is that it de-taxes the poorest people by paying them the amount of tax they would pay on necessities up to poverty level. The most appealing thing to me about the consumption tax is that you choose to pay it via your spending habits. It takes the burden of tracking income off of the individual, so you no longer have to consult a tax attorney before you make an investment decision.
In addition, the FairTax plan will stimulate the US economy by removing the embedded taxes in the cost of doing business here. More jobs will move back to US soil and the trade deficit will decrease. Our economy will be more competitive on the world market.
My husband and I have two children. We are a normal family of four, trying to make a life for ourselves. We are currently in the process of buying a new house, and I sold some stock I have saved up over the years to help with the downpayment. We don't have a lot of extra money, so I didn't consult a tax attorney regarding the sale. Now I am worried that I have hurt my family by selling the stock because we might be taxed more than expected on the sale next year. Why should a normal mother of two have to worry about being thrown in jail because she didn't consult a tax attorney? Please get rid of the income tax. HR 25 is the best resolution.
