Subject: Taxing Employee Benefits

Comment: Many employers are considering reducing the amount they subsidize for employee health benefits. Eliminating the business tax deduction will drive employers to drop this benefit. Taxing employees for the value of health insurance will further exacerbate the situtation, forcing more employees onto the rolls of the uninsured. It was a Democratic president who started taxing Social Security. How, in good conscience, can a Republican president attempt to reduce the federal deficit on the backs of both employers and employees?
