Subject: Mortgage interest deduction/ Property tax deduction

Comment: I am opposed to any change in the current mortgage deduction system. Additionally, I am opposed to any change in the property tax deduction. A change in either would directly and negatively affect my living situation- probably to the point of forcing me to move.
My husband and I both work, earning an upper middle class income, but are far from wealthy. Housing costs in south Florida are quite high. Therefore, we have a large mortgage. Further, since property taxes are tied to the market value of a home in Florida, our property taxes are quite high(Approximately &16,000.)It would be unfair and burdensome to disallow that tax deduction. Only the very wealthy would be able to afford my house.
It is also my opinion that any tax changes involving home ownership will have a dramatic and negative impact on the national economy, but I am certain that you have advice from experienced economists regarding that potential consequence. -Lisa Trachman
