Subject: tax reform

Comment: As a National Grange member, I support the followings:
A simpler and fairer federal tax code, written in precise, plain, and understandable language.
Tax policies that levy both personal and business taxes based on ability to pay.
Abolishing the federal estate tax, especially for small business and agriculture.
A 100% federal income tax deduction for all medical insurance premiums.
A requirement of a two-thirds vote of each chamber to increase taxes.
Permanent tax exemption for income raised by non-profit organizations such as the Grange.
Strengthening of the "Taxpayers' Bill of Rights" - the burden of proof must be placed on the IRS - not the taxpayer - under due process of law and a course of action should be provided in which the taxpayer could defend himself and recover his costs and attorney fees should the IRS fail to prove its case.

I also support a gas tax credit for the low and middle income groups due to the hick in gas prices as a person with low income now spends more for gas and child care and is unable to pay for food and rent and all the other things that a person needs to pay in order to live and work. Our country has high unemployment rates because of the fact companies are moving out of the country and low income jobs are what people are replacing their income with now. Now with higher gas prices they are having to forgo items or pull in to jobs and still spend more for gas. Help us with this problem.
