Subject: Taxing Benefits

Comment: If we are to have employees take responsibility for their personal health, if we are to put individuals who are without medical benefits on the same level playing field with those who receive benefits, and if we are to have a rational tax systems, we must tax employee benefits. Yes, the cost will probably go up for many you currently pay nothing (directly) for benefits, but our economic system will also respond by lowering costs for those who are currently not receiving benefits and cannot afford to negotiate the sweet deals that large companies can. Please let the American private enterprise system work and take away the artificial impact that comes by allowing businesses to deduct benefits of any kind. Anytime government gets involved it messes things up usually to the detriment of innocent individuals. Right this wrong by elimating the tax deduction for employee benefits.
