Subject: Tax Reform

Comment: You had three objectives to meet, and at least one option to suggest changes to the current system.

Too bad you apparently choose to only repeat the errors of your predicessors rather than take advantage of an unparalleled opportunity to actually recommend a tax system that would meet the base criteria of your mandate.

(a) simplify Federal tax laws to reduce the costs and administrative burdens of compliance with such laws;

(b) share the burdens and benefits of the Federal tax structure in an appropriately progressive manner while recognizing the importance of homeownership and charity in American society; and

(c) promote long-run economic growth and job creation, and better encourage work effort, saving, and investment, so as to strengthen the competitiveness of the United States in the global marketplace.

It is indeed unfortunate for he American people that all you can see to do is provide:

At least one option submitted by the Advisory Panel should use the Federal income tax as the base for its recommended reforms.

Instead of providing true reforms.

FairTax, H.R.25/S.25 time has come.

Apparently it will need to be done by the American electorate with political heads rolling, lacking the fair and unbiased consideration of this panel.
