Subject: FairTax Comment: Reasons for FairTax: 1. FairTax is efficient. This creates a larger tax base, making it possible for lower overall taxes. 2. FairTax is fair. Everyone pays tax based on consumption level rather than their work level. There will no longer be the oportunity for evasion through the use of loopholes in our current code. The underground economy will pay as well. 3. FairTax will grow the economy. Taxing consumption will lead to a greater savings rate, which will in turn lead to more capital stock. This will lead to more jobs and greater national income. |
