Subject: Support of the Fairtax (consumption tax)

Comment: We are individual tax payers (husband and wife) strongly in support of the Fairtax national consumption tax plan for years and have been explaining it to everyone who will listen. Not one person has reacted negatively. It seems to us it would give an enormous psychological lift to our citizens to take home a full paycheck and to feel some control over their own earnings. But you must amend the Constitution to prohibit any federal income tax. One argument in favor of the consumption tax that hasn't been highlighted is that foreign tourists would be paying taxes for the use and enjoyment of our country, taxes that they don't necessarily pay under the current system. A second advantage to the Fairtax proposal would be that illegals who are paid cash or those who simply avoid paying taxes would actually end up paying their fair share while they live and consume in our country. Any finally, the idea of dissolving the hated IRS and its gestapo-like powers would probably cause a national euphoria so powerful the resultant soaring economy might never come back to earth! Please, for the good of all Americans, recommend to the President the Fairtax plan...it's equitable, it makes sense, and it will give America a huge boost. Just when we need it most.
