The first panel addresses the impending demographic crisis. Co-Chair Nancy Hooks speaks to San Diego television reporter.



Commissioners Swanson, Erickson, Baumgarten, Gugino, and Thomas study written testimony in preparation for questioning the witnesses. The second panel is examines the issues in detail and from differing perspectives touching on intergenerational care, public housing, and community based services.



Martha Rawlings, a grandmother caring for her grandchildren tells of the challenges of finding housing for her family. The third panel addresses assisted living, Medicaid waivers, and the multitude of challenges seniors face in their efforts to remain in their own homes.



The public session opened with testimony from both residents and operators of affordable housing for seniors. Andrew Montgomery, the Resident Representative for Sojourner Truth Manor, traveled from Oakland to give his views to the Commission in San Diego.
