STAFFORD-COVEY TASK GROUP ANNOUNCES SEPT. 16 PUBLIC MEETING

The Stafford-Covey Return to Flight Task Group will hold
its next public meeting at 9 a.m. EDT Thursday, Sept. 16, in
the Webster Civic Center, 311 Pennsylvania Avenue, Webster,
Texas.

A news conference will follow the meeting at noon EDT at
NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC), Houston. It will be
carried live on NASA TV with questions taken only from media
at JSC. Reporters who want to participate should contact the
JSC Public Affairs Office at: 281/483-5111 by 4 p.m. EDT,
Sept. 15, for accreditation.

The news conference participants are Stafford-Covey Task
Group Co-Chairman Richard O. Covey, Technical Panel Lead
Joseph Cuzzupoli, Management Panel Lead Dr. Daniel L.
Crippen, and Operations Panel Lead Col. James C. Adamson.

The task group was chartered by NASA to perform an
independent assessment of the agency's implementation of the
Columbia Accident Investigation Board's recommendations. The
group is co-chaired by retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant
General, and Apollo commander, Thomas P. Stafford, and Covey,
who is a former Space Shuttle commander.

NASA Television is available in the continental U.S. on AMC-
6, Transponder 9C, C-Band, located at 72 degrees west
longitude. The frequency is 3880.0 MHz. Polarization is
vertical, and audio is monaural at 6.80 MHz. In Alaska and
Hawaii, NASA Television is available on AMC-7, Transponder
18C, C-Band, located at 137 degrees west longitude. Frequency
is 4060.0 MHz. Polarization is vertical, and audio is
monaural at 6.80 MHz.
