The Stafford-Covey Return to Flight Task Group has scheduled a public meeting at 8:30 a.m. EST Thursday, March 31, in the Webster Civic Center, 311 Pennsylvania Avenue, Webster, Texas.

The Group continues its assessment of NASA’s progress implementing the recommendations of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board. A live audio feed of the meeting is available on the Internet at:

A news conference follows the meeting at 2:00 p.m. EST at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC), Houston. The news conference is live on NASA TV with questions taken from media at participating NASA locations. Reporters who want to participate from JSC should contact the JSC Public Affairs Office at: 281/483-5111 by 4 p.m. EST, March 30, for accreditation.

Conference participants: Return to Flight Task Group Co-Chairmen Air Force Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Thomas P. Stafford and Richard O. Covey; Technical Panel Lead Joseph Cuzzupoli; Management Panel Lead Dr. Daniel Crippen; and Operations Panel Lead Col. James Adamson.

Although the Task Group will discuss all the remaining Return to Flight Recommendations at the meeting, additional deliberations may be needed in April to allow NASA to complete some additional work, including some additional testing and analysis, before the group can make all final assessments.

NASA chartered the Task Group to perform an independent assessment of the agency’s implementation of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board’s Return to Flight recommendations. Additional information on the Return to Flight Task Group is available at:
