The National Weather Service provides weather information and the U.S. Geological Survey provides on-line maps of selected areas.

travel.state.gov/travel_warnings.html - Check which countries are under State Department travel advisories, and collect consular information sheets for every country. These sheets provide useful information about the country's health conditions, the status of minor political disturbances, unusual currency and entry regulations, crime and security information, and drug penalties.
