10/22/94: President signs Bankruptcy Reform Act of 1994, Pub. L. No. 103-394, which establishes the National Bankruptcy Review Commission.
7/27/95: Commission receives its initial funding in the amount of $1 million.
10/20/95: Commission holds its first meeting in Washington, D.C.
11/1/95: Commission meets in conjunction with the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges.
5/16-17/96: Commission meets in conjunction with the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
6/96: Commission forms eight working groups to analyze issues.
Summer `96: Commission works with the American Bankruptcy Institute on its Membership Survey.
7/1/96: Commission submits its first quarterly report to Congress.
9/12/96: Commission Chair testifies before House Committee on Banking and Finance.
9/17-18/96: Commission meets in conjunction with the States' Association of Bankruptcy Attorneys.
9/30/96: Commission receives $494,000 in additional funding.
10/18-19/96: Commission meets in conjunction with the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges.
12/96: Commission submits its second quarterly report to Congress.
12/4/96: Commission conducts its first regional meeting at Akron, Ohio.
12/17-18/96: Commission holds its meeting at House Rayburn Office Building on Capitol Hill with extensive press and television coverage; hears from four consumer creditor panels.
1/97: Commission's web site is activated ("www.nbrc.gov").
2/97: A tax advisory committee is formed to assist the Commission in its review of tax issues.
3/3-4/97: Commission representatives participate at the Conference on Future Bankruptcy Data sponsored by the Administrative Office of the United States Courts.
4/1/97: Commission conducts a regional meeting at Des Moines, Iowa.
4/16/97: Commission Chair testifies before the House Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law.
4/17-18/97: Commission meets in conjunction with the Northwest Bankruptcy Institute in Seattle.
5/9/97: Commission conducts a regional meeting in New York City.
5/15-16/97: Commission meets in conjunction with the American Bankruptcy Institute.
6/6/97: Commission conducts a regional meeting at Orange Beach, Alabama.
7/17//97: Commission conducts a regional meeting at Chicago.
8/11-12/97: Commission has its last meeting at Washington, D.C.
10/20/97: Commission submits its final report to the Congress, the Chief Justice and the President of the United States. The entire report, totaling more than 1,300 pages, is posted on the Commission's web site: www.nbrc.gov.
