Chris Spear, B.A., M.P.A.

Biography

Chris Spear is the Assistant Secretary for Policy in the U.S. Department of Labor. Mr. Spear is responsible for providing counsel to the Secretary of Labor on the vast array of labor issues that affect American workers. Prior to coming to the U.S. Department of Labor, Mr. Spear was the Legislative Director for Senator Tim Hutchinson, where he crafted a comprehensive legislative agenda including labor, health, education, agriculture and defense initiatives, and instigated the creation of the Senate Biotechnology Caucus.

Previously, Mr. Spear served as the Staff Director of the Senate Subcommittee on Employment, Safety and Training; Legislative Assistant for Senator Mike Enzi on the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; and Legislative Assistant and Field Representative for Senator Alan Simpson.

A native of Auburn, Nebraska, Mr. Spear received both a Master's Degree in Public Administration and an undergraduate degree in Political Science and from the University of Wyoming. He currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and children.
