COALITION
PROVISIONAL AUTHORITY
South-Central Region
contracts
awarded to Karbala province for area projects
Karbala. The Coalition Provisional Authority awarded
more than $280,000 (532 million Iraqi Dinars *) in community projects on
Thursday, October 30, 2003. The projects will employ local people from
Karbala.
Providing a means for people to communicate throughout Iraq
is important. The projects will reconstruct the Saif Saad telecommunications
building. The contracts will also extend the telephone network to Al-Nasser,
Al-Hussaina, and Al-Hindya. The money is given in increments, and as the work
is properly completed, more money will be given to the Iraqi contractors.
Assisting the people in Karbala Province is an important goal for the
Coalition Provisional Authority. It is part of a larger initiative to help
Iraqis as they move forward toward democracy. CPA South-Central will announce
other projects in the coming weeks.
* Assuming $1 equal
1,900 Iraqi Dinars.
