distributions made to Karbala province for area projects
Karbala Province. The Coalition
Provisional Authority South-Central today provided more than $2.14 million (4.07
billion Iraqi Dinars *) in contracts for community projects. The projects will
employ local people from Karbala Province.
The projects will repair the Karbala LPG
Plant, Ain Al Tamur Government Building, Al Hindyia Telephone Department, Al
Hussein Hospital Ventilation System, Al Hussaynia Medical Clinic, Karbala Sewage
Treatment Plant, an irrigation building, and Karbala Road at Mussayib Bridge.
CPA believes a strong police department is
essential as Iraq progresses toward self-government. The project money will also
repair the main police administration building, traffic police building, police
patrol building, police substation buildings, and police checkpoint buildings,
and the facilities protection buildings.
Assisting the people in Karbala Province
is an important goal for the Coalition Provisional Authority. Today’s money
brings the total committed to during the last two months to $3.03 million (5.76
billion Iraqi Dinars *) for community projects in Babil Province. The military
has given about equal that amount.
It is part of a larger initiative to help
Iraqis as they move forward toward democracy. CPA South-Central will announce
other projects in the coming weeks.
* Assuming $1 equal
1,900 Iraqi Dinars.
