Iraqna To Be Major Sponsor of Iraqi National Football Teams

AMMAN, JORDAN – The Iraqi Football Association is pleased to announce a major sponsorship initiative by Iraqna in agreeing to be an Associate Sponsor of the Iraqi National Football Teams.

Mr Hussein Saeed, President of the Iraqi Football Association, said “Iraqi football is enjoying a tremendous revival at this time, but we have many challenges ahead to build on our success. This wonderful support from Iraqna is crucial to our ability to continue to develop all our national football teams for the future.”

Mr. Allan Richardson, CEO of Iraqna, a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom Holdings Egypt, said “Iraqna is proud to support the Iraqi National Football Federation. All of Iraqna wishes the utmost success to Iraq’s players and fans. I think it is incredible what the national team has achieved in spite of all the obstacles in their path and provides a great example of what is possible when everybody pulls together.”

Iraqna was recently awarded a two year licence to provide mobile telecommunications services in Iraq and currently provides coverage to approximately 200,000 subscribers in Baghdad, and the Al Unbar region. As an Associate Sponsor, Iraqna will have exclusive sponsorship rights in the telecommunications services sector and will be the official telecoms services supplier to the Iraq National Football Teams (excluding the Iraqi Olympic Team, which falls under existing TOP Programme sponsorship arrangements). The sponsorship agreement is for two years, ending on 31 May 2006.
