I write to support the nomination of Peter Tasker to be a member of the FTC Security Advisory Committee on Online Access.

I currently serve as Executive Vice President of MITRE and have worked with Peter Tasker in several capacities for seven years. Pete offers a number of attributes which should be valuable to the Advisory Committee.

• As Executive Director of MITRE's Security and Information Operations Division, he leads a group of more than 160 technical professionals and has access to the expertise of all.

• A recognized expert in the field of information security, Pete would bring significant, current technical knowledge to the Advisory Committee.

• Pete is well known to most professionals and vendors in the information security committee. He has led or participated in many symposia and conferences which involve large portions of this community.

If Pete is appointed to the Advisory Committee, he will carry out his duties with MITRE's encouragement. MITRE is a nonprofit corporation chartered to provide research and engineering services to government.
